Think of your favorite commercials and what makes them effective. They are usually simple, straightforward, and a little bit funny, right? So aim for that. You want your message to be obvious, but you definitely need some sort of hook. The video could be made by library staff or patrons, or maybe teens. Reach out to the local community and get them involved.

Live streaming video is a great option for protests. Webcasting events like this is more involved, but you can recruit a tech person who can take care of this for you. Frankly, this is getting so easy that you may not even need that. Many webcasting services are also free. We streamed our 24-Hour Read-In event live on our blog and got more than six hundred page views in that twenty-four-hour period. There were viewers not only from all over the city but from different parts of the country as well. It’s a great way to involve supporters who can’t be present in real life.
